Through his independent search of Zizai, Pianzi has realised that it is not the world which changes people; however, it is the people who change the world. By multiplying his motif of his ever apparent grinning faces from his canvas works to his bronze abacus sculptures, Pianzi shows us that people are part of a system, each with his/her own calculation and fate… each in search of his/her own Zizai. His “grinning” Abacus is one’s hope of achieving his/her fate in the most optimal and pleasant manner. Shortly summarised, his paintings, graphics, water colours, sketches, or objects express the basic idea of Zizai and the experiences of the joy of art and life!
